Winterhaven is located in  Imperial County, California and borders Yuma Arizona to the north. A small community of less than 1000 it offers a quiet retreat to the bustle of the city. It is part of the 'El Centro, California Metropolitan Statistical Area'. The town is partly Quechan Indian reservation. The Colorado River is the town's eastern border.
